Pre-exploration water projects Western Cameroon

HYDROGEOLOGICAL SURVEY IN BANGANG

The main component of the project was a new hydrogeological survey for Bangang, located in the western region of Cameroon (near Bayangam). The survey was carried out by a local company (Alliance des Intégrateurs de Solutions Tropicales) at the Bangang Technical College. The site was chosen based on findings from previous projects CMR_06 and CMR_07, when the school was visited and it was found that water was a major problem. The result of the investigation was a detailed report on the geology and climate of the site and a cost estimate for the well drilling. It was also examined whether a well could be drilled in the centre of the village (churchyard), but it was agreed that the need at the school was higher. The project was proposed to RG Aachen for further pursuit.

HYDROGEOLOGICAL SURVEY IN BAYANGAM

A hydrogeological survey was already carried out for Bayangam under project CMR_07, which has been revised in this project. The outcome of the earlier survey was that a well depth of 50 m is mandatory for a constant water supply, while the existing well at the technical high school is less than 20 m deep. It was agreed to drill a new well to supply water to the nursery and primary school. RG Bayangam is ready to take up this project. Edgar Tchuente Tagheu (Project Manager) then submitted a project together with RG Bayangam to drill a well to supply water to the school and the local community.

HYDROGEOLOGICAL SURVEY IN BANGANGTE

Another survey was conducted in Bangangte, sponsored by the local community, which is also willing to fund the well drilling. RG Bayangam will help with this.
